Animal Technician

Animal Technician – Carlsbad

• 4 month contract to hire
• Schedule Monday – Friday OR Tuesday – Saturday; 4a, 5a, and 6a start times available. 

What you’ll do:

• Perform cage changing, providing clean bedding and materials for animals housed in the vivarium.
• Autoclaving of biowaste for disposal.
• Assist in maintaining vivarium supply inventories – stocking and ordering.
• Routine weekend and holiday work required.
• Other duties may be assigned in addition to those listed above.

Who you are:

• Experience handling large animals (30+ lbs), such as pigs, horses, sheep, etc. 
• Must have a general understanding of animal welfare regulations and of the importance of ethical use of animals in research.
• Must be able to lift 50lbs.

What does this position pay?

• Compensation is determined by several factors which may include skillset, experience level, and geographic location. The expected range for this role is $18 – $24 per hour. Please note this range is an estimate and actual pay may vary based on qualifications and experience.
