Technical Writer (Mechanical) – San Diego

What You’ll Do

• Develop sales order–specific Operation & Maintenance manuals, including Systems Operator Guides and Maintenance Instruction volumes.

• Draft clear assembly, disassembly, and operating procedures by synthesizing information from engineering schematics, electrical drawings, and bills of material.

• Consolidate and transform technical content from multiple sources into structured documentation using SGML, Arbortext, or similar publishing tools.

Who You Are

• An experienced Technical Writer with a background in industrial, mechanical, or heavy equipment documentation.

• Comfortable reading and interpreting P&ID diagrams, electrical schematics, and technical drawings.

• Proficient with structured publishing tools (SGML, Arbortext, or similar) and experienced working within documentation databases.

• A self-starter who can translate complex engineering concepts into clear, concise instructions using Simplified Technical English.

What does this position pay?
Compensation is determined by several factors which may include skillset, experience level, and geographic location.

The expected range for this role is $54.00 to $60.00 per hour. Please note this range is an estimate and actual pay may vary based on qualifications and experience.
