Infographic: The Rise of the Temp Economy
Considering a temp job? You’re not alone.
Research indicates that temporary employment is on its way up, and fast. The infographic below shows a growing trend that could result in nearly 40% of the workforce being ‘self-employed,’ (contract, freelance, temporary workers and the like) by the year 2020.
This may be an uneasy statistic for some. Temp jobs often get a bad rap, but they do have something to offer. Not only do these positions allow you to gain experience, avoid resume gaps, expand your network and get your foot in the door, they could also help you to get ahead. A temporary role can be an opportunity to gain experience in a position you haven’t considered before, providing the additional training and knowledge you need to sharpen your competitive edge.
What’s more, working temporary positions now could pay off quickly as temporary-to-permanent conversion rates are also on the rise. If you’re considering a temp job, give it a shot. Everyone’s doing it.
