Program Control Manager – Defense & Communications Technology – Carlsbad
 
Are you a strategic, solutions-oriented program finance leader who thrives in a fast-paced engineering and government contracting environment? In this role, you’ll co-own program financial performance alongside Program Managers, drive Earned Value Management (EVM) excellence, and lead the forecasting, scheduling, and risk management processes that directly impact high-visibility defense and aerospace programs. Who you are:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Engineering, or related field
  • 7+ years of experience in Program Control, Program Finance, Cost/Schedule Analysis, or related discipline
  • Strong command of Earned Value Management (EVM), Estimate at Complete (EAC), and financial/schedule performance metrics
  • Proficient in MS Project and experienced supporting DoD or government contracting environments
  • Confident communicator who can partner closely with Program Managers, engineering teams, and leadership
  • Highly analytical with a detail-oriented, proactive approach to problem-solving
  • Comfortable owning risk, schedule, and cost processes in a dynamic program environment

 
What you’ll do:

  • Establish schedule and cost baselines in partnership with the Program Manager
  • Status program schedules and performance monthly, ensuring accuracy and compliance
  • Update program EACs and financial forecasts on a recurring basis
  • Review and approve procurement requests, labor reports, and financial obligations
  • Maintain and update program Risk Registers and implement mitigation plans when needed
  • Provide actionable insights through EVM analysis, schedule reviews, and financial reporting
  • Present program financials, schedule updates, and performance metrics during monthly leadership reviews
  • Partner cross-functionally with engineering, finance, contracts, and program teams to drive program success

What does this position pay?

  • Compensation is determined by several factors which may include skillset, qualifications/certifications, experience level, and geographic location
  • The expected range for this role is $150-175K, annualized base compensation. Please note this range is an estimate and actual may vary based on qualifications, physical location and experience
