Research Associate, In Vivo Pharmacology (Contract to Hire)
This role directly supports in vivo pharmacology studies by independently executing hands on work with rodent models and ensuring high quality data collection across metabolic and efficacy studies. It plays a critical part in maintaining study continuity through precise dosing, monitoring, and sample collection while adapting to dynamic research needs. The position enables the broader team to advance therapeutic programs efficiently by providing reliable, accurate, and compliant in vivo study execution.
What you will do:
- Execute daily in vivo study activities with minimal supervision, including handling, dosing (SubQ required; IV/IP as applicable), and monitoring mice and rats across metabolic disease and obesity models.
- Collect and accurately document body weights, food intake, health observations, imaging data, and other in study measurements to maintain high quality experimental records.
- Perform blood and tissue collection, basic surgical procedures, and supporting techniques such as implantation, oral gavage, and suturing when needed
- Assist with study planning, experimental execution, and wet lab assays (e.g., ELISA, RNA extraction, MSD based analyses) when competencies allow.
- Ensure strict adherence to animal welfare standards, safety practices, and regulatory compliant documentation across all in vivo and laboratory activities.
Who you are:
- BS/MS in the life sciences and strong hands on experience working independently in a vivarium, including daily care, handling, and dosing of mice and rats with proficiency in SubQ dosing and blood collection.
- Demonstrated ability to execute in vivo study protocols accurately, manage shifting study schedules, and maintain meticulous, compliant documentation
- Experience conducting metabolic or behavioral assays such as feeding studies, exercise tolerance, or glucose/insulin tolerance tests.
- Familiarity with IACUC standards, animal welfare guidelines, and laboratory safety requirements.
- Preferred experience in tissue collection, surgical techniques, or supporting wet lab assays (e.g., ELISA, RNA extraction), with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast paced research environment.
