(Sr.) Scientist, NGS
What you will do:
- Independently execute end?to?end NGS workflows, including RNA/DNA extraction, library prep, normalization, sequencing, QC, and troubleshooting, to support high?throughput weekly data generation.
- Operate the Illumina NextSeq as the primary instrument, managing all run setup, loading, verification, instrument maintenance, and real?time issue resolution.
- Manage and prioritize a continuous stream of diverse biological samples (including E. coli?derived materials), ensuring accurate preparation and timely processing for weekly 96?well sequencing cycles.
- Own the full sample?to?sequence pipeline, including intake, workflow planning, rapid issue identification, and communication with stakeholders to maintain uninterrupted data output.
- Support expanded nucleic?acid?based workflows as needed, including whole genome sequencing, transcriptomic sample prep, and larger screening or barcoding projects when they arise.
Who you are:
- BS or MS in a biological science with 5–10 years of hands?on laboratory experience, including independent execution of nucleic acid isolation workflows.
- Direct, hands?on experience running Illumina NextSeq instruments, including loading, troubleshooting, and QC.
- Experience managing end?to?end NGS workflows in a production?style environment, including sample intake, normalization, library prep, sequencing, and weekly data delivery.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently in a small?team environment, troubleshooting workflow issues and maintaining consistent, high?quality weekly sequencing output with minimal supervision.
What does this position pay?
- Compensation is determined by several factors including experience, skillset, and geographic location. The expected range for this role is $40.00-$80.00 per hour, plus benefits. Actual pay may vary based on qualifications and experience.
